Stay-Cation

Last week I had an unexpected phone call from a long time friend from AZ....she was taking a last minute trip to the frozen tundra. She has some sort of super human ability to bring the good weather with her wherever she roams, so naturally I was ecstatic. True to form, the weather was excellent! (by Minnesota standards) We enjoyed sunny, 30 degree weather the entire weekend! Wendy was eager to experience winter life as we know it.

One of our first stops was Ike's in Minneapolis. She got to taste one of the Midwest's prized possession's, aged cheese. The bartender told her that she could keep her weather, and we'll keep our cheese. It was a classic cheese lover's comment!

Next, with the help of John's friend, we scored some sweet tickets to the Timberwolves game. The game was not that exciting, but we did have some funny seat neighbors to keep things lively all night. I even got picked up on! Wowzas! It made a stay at home mom of 3 feel not so old. (did I mention that Wendy's server the night before was trying to bust a move on Wendy?) We still got it!!
Another Minnesota moment we had was taking a 5 mile jog around Rice Lake at 7am. It was a tid bit chilly. At one point, Wendy had frost on her eyelashes and eyebrows!! I had a blast because it was my first time jogging that distance, but I don't think Wendy will be doing that again anytime soon.
With the help from my best babysitter, we also went out to the movies, ate at Smashburger, stopped by Archivers and went to the Mall of America. Thanks John!

Now that Wendy has gone, the warm front has left and we are back to our normal 10 degree weather. Come back Wendy, we all need some more sunshine in our life!!

Back in the Day

I came across this gem while sorting through some pictures last night. I must have watched it 10 times. Jackson was 3 at the time, and oh so cute!

Jamie's Favorite Things

This is a little like the Oprah's Favorite Things episode, except I'm not giving away anything, sorry. To celebrate heart day I am posting a few of the things I love. I'll try to skip the typical/obvious/gushy ones like: I just love my hubby so much...he completes me blah blah blah, etc. Without further ado, the list:

1. Coke....the real stuff. No diet, no cherry, no caffeine free.

2. Neighbors who snow blow my driveway even when I don't even know their name. (Thanks guy in the army sweatshirt!!)

3. This:
4: But even more so, this:

5. The seat warmer in John's car. Except when it warms up too much and makes you feel like you have wet yourself.

6. Seeing Jackson and Max playing together, as opposed to fighting together.

7. Balsamic Vinegar

8. Sea Salt

9. Vampire Weekend

10. Stealing socks from John's drawer

11. A good book

12. Peanut Buster Parfaits

13. Reality t.v. and US weekly magazine (my guilty pleasures)

14. My valentine gift from John. Woo Hoo! No more Dino computer. I'm usually a big fan of Gala, but today my favorite apple is my MacBook!

Old Soul

Sometimes I think my Max was sent to me for the comic relief that he brings to our family. Just when I am at my wits end with child #1, he will pull out a zinger like this:

"Hey Mom, back in the OLDEN DAYS when I was like 3, did we have sugar?"

Seriously kid? Back in the olden days for you was 2 years ago? If he is from the olden days, John and I must be prehistoric!

Broken Promises/First Lolipop

I don't know exactly why, but with my third kid, I've just let all the rules fly right out the window. I remember telling myself that my kids would never be the ones with snotty noses sucking on lolipops in grocery carts. Tell me you've seen it....Mom wants baby quiet, so she hands her baby a sucker and somehow baby's runny nose mixes in with the drool from the lolipop and lands all over their shirt? Gross!! Well.......at least we weren't at the store. Also, Sadie is the cutest runny nosed, lolipop sucking thing I've ever seen!

Who Me? Yes you.

To celebrate my 100th post, I'm going to tell a little bit about myself. This comes straight from urbandictionary.com, so it has to be all true, right?

Jamie:
A girl who is intelligent, yet silly. A girl who is cold on the outside, yet warm and cuddly on the inside. A girl who tell her friends everything, yet she has many secrets hidden. A girl who is a great friend, yet a worthy adversary if you are not a friend of hers. A girl who is extremely sweet and innocent, yet she kicks someones a** when necessary.

Those with the name Jamie tend to be kind people who enjoy music. They're great with making friends and usually have dark hair. Some are very attractive. They can be quiet at times but, given the chance to party... they will... Some have dry senses of humor and can be confused easily... that's part of the humor. Female Jamies are fun to be around and can be slightly tone-deaf... but all's good because they make up for it in attitude.

This one is for you Cecia:
1. One who Creeps, but yet is not lame.
2. Creeper

post edit: I realized in my afternoon blogging haste, it seemed like I was calling Cecia a creeper, when infact it was still part of the definition for myself. I just thought she might enjoy that one because her hubby referred to me as creepy just a couple of days ago.
